HANDWRITING

Handwriting is a complex skill which requires training and practice to master. Inspite of the advent of technology, it remains a highly valuable and useful tool.

We write to plan and organise our thinking; to aid our memory; to draft, work out and output our ideas.

The training programmes have evolved from Sally's work with children whose writing issues are associated with specific difficulties such as dyslexia and dyspaxia, her work with hypermobility and also her work as paediatric physiotherapist. However anyone learning to write can benefit.

The training follows a step by step pathway. It teaches, faciliates and supports ergonomic writing posture and grip together with pencil technique. The latter is  linked to teaching letter formation. This progresses to learning how to join to and from letters, sequences of letters and words with those sequences. Finally the learning is generalised to writing sentences and combining writing with other learning challenges.
